Thoughts from Kara Leigh
{An Alabama Bridal Shop Owner’s Advice Column}
When I was sixteen, my dad handed me over his credit card as my best friend and I embarked on our first big girl trip to Washington, D.C. As my sister was working on the Hill, I had our driver for the week drop me off in Georgetown (aka, my little slice of paradise). I used this time in Georgetown to visit some of my favorite boutiques and designer shops. It was amazing – this little card helped me become best friends with the manager at Ralph Lauren Black Label, get to know a similar girl to me at Burberry, and land my first big girl bag – a stunning Chloe bag that would last me a lifetime (or at least until I lost it half a year later at my favorite Mexican restaurant). Dad didn’t set a budget. Big mistake, Dad, big mistake.
I am telling you all this because it is oftentimes an uncomfortable question to ask brides their budget, but it shouldn’t be. Everyone has a budget and if they don’t, they should. Knowing what you want to spend and being comfortable with telling others that will make your consultant’s job a million times easier and will help you land perfectly in the dress of your dreams (both look and budget wise).
Our Huntsville bridal shop can help brides with all different types of budgets. However, allowing us to know whether you want to spend $2,000 or $22,000 will allow me to assist you in pulling gowns that are perfect for you and won’t break the bank (or your dad’s heart). Part of being ready to purchase is knowing what your limit is – what you are willing to pay and not pay. If you come into our Alabama bridal boutique and have that in mind, the gown of your dreams will be easier for us to find!
So next time you are asked your budget, don’t be scared to tell your consultant what it is!
{Big thanks to Amy’s dad for posing for a picture and making us laugh. We promise he wasn’t actually this shocked by the bill.}
